KEY INFORMATION

DAY 1 – Arrival in Padang

Arrive at Minangkabau International Airport (PDG). Meet the group and Esploro Travel team leader at the airport. Private transfer to your hotel in Padang. Free time to rest or explore the city. (Lunch and dinner not included).

DAY 2 – Transfer to Telo Island

Early morning transfer to the harbor for a fast ferry to Siberut Island. Upon arrival, continue by speedboat to the Telo Islands. Check in at our private beachfront villa. Settle in and enjoy the surroundings. (Breakfast and dinner included; lunch not included).

DAY 3-8 – Surf and Explore

Each day begins with a surf check and boat ride to the best breaks based on swell and tides. From playful walls to powerful reef barrels, the area offers waves for all styles. When not surfing, unwind in the villa or choose from optional activities:

  • Snorkeling vibrant coral reefs
  • Fishing for tuna, marlin, or mahi-mahi
  • Exploring nearby islands or relaxing on the beach

Full board and guiding included throughout.

DAY 9 – Return to Padang

Depart early by speedboat and ferry back to Padang. Check in at your hotel and enjoy a final evening in the city. (Lunch and dinner not included).

DAY 10 – Departure

Breakfast at the hotel. Private transfer to the airport for your international flight home.

Fly into Minangkabau International Airport (PDG) in Padang, West Sumatra. From there, we’ll take care of everything — including a fast ferry and private speedboat to the Telo Islands. It’s a long journey, but that’s part of the magic: we’re bringing you somewhere truly off the beaten path. Just show up in Padang, we’ll handle the rest.

Advanced

This trip is designed for experienced surfers comfortable in remote environments.The Telo Islands offer a wide range of reef breaks, including fast, shallow waves with hollow sections and powerful walls. While there are also more forgiving spots, many of the waves break over coral reef, and require strong paddling fitness, sharp positioning skills, and confidence in overhead surf.

From May to September, the Telo Islands enjoy consistent surf conditions and warm, tropical weather. Expect daytime temperatures around 28–30 °C (82–86 °F), light offshore winds, and water temperatures of 27–29 °C (81–84 °F), ideal for long sessions in boardshorts. Rain is possible but typically brief and refreshing.

Surf Gear

  • Your own surfboard(s) – suitable for reef breaks and tropical conditions
  • Leashes, fins, wax, ding repair kit (local options limited)
  • Rashguard or surf shirt (sun protection + reef safety)
  • Reef booties (optional, but useful for shallow reef entries)

Q: What level of surfing experience do I need?
A: This trip is for intermediate+ to advanced surfers. You should be confident in reef breaks, able to handle overhead waves, and comfortable paddling in and out of boat-accessed lineups.

Q: What kind of waves can I expect?
A: The Telo Islands offer everything from fun, playful walls to fast, shallow reef barrels. The area includes both lefts and rights, with breaks suitable for different moods, boards, and swell directions.

Q: Do I need to bring my own board?
A: Yes. You’ll need to bring your own surfboards, leashes, and spares: there’s no rental option on the island.We recommend bringing at least two boards to match the range of conditions.

Q: Is this trip suitable for solo travelers?
A: Absolutely. Most of our guests come solo. We’ll pair you with another guest of the same gender unless you request a single room (subject to availability and surcharge).

Life on the Island

Q: What’s the accommodation like?
A: You’ll stay in a private beachfront villa, reserved exclusively for our group. Rooms are simple but comfortable, with A/C, ensuite bathroom, and ocean views.

Q: What’s included in the food and drink?
A: The resort provides three fresh meals per day, with local ingredients and international dishes. Tea, coffee, and water are always available. Alcohol and soft drinks are not included but can be purchased on site.

Q: Is there internet access?
A: Yes, the resort is connected via Starlink satellite Wi-Fi, offering unlimited and reliable internet, even in this remote location.

Practicalities

Q: Do I need travel insurance?
A: Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is required, including coverage for surfing, boat activities, and medical evacuation.

Q: What’s the best time of year to go?
A:
We operate during the dry season (May to September), when surf is
consistent and conditions are best. Expect water temps of 27–29 °C and
air temps around 30 °C.

Q: Can non-surfers join the trip?
A: Yes, as long as they’re aware this is a surf-focused adventure.
Non-surfers can enjoy snorkeling, fishing, exploring nearby islands, or simply relaxing by the beach.

BOOKING & CANCELLATION

A deposit is required to confirm your spot. Remaining balance is due 60 days before departure. If life happens and you need to change plans, cancellations made up to 60 days prior are eligible for a refund, depending on timing and conditions. Travel insurance covering medical evacuation, trip cancellation, and adventure activities is required.
