Surfing & Levels
Q: Do I need to be an experienced surfer?
A: Not at all. The area offers breaks for all levels. Beginners can get started in the protected lagoon, which offers calm, forgiving conditions perfect for learning. Our coaching is tailored to each surfer in the group, from first timers to those looking to sharpen their technique.
Q: What kind of surfboards and wetsuits are available?
A: A range of boards and wetsuits can be rented locally: just let us know in advance and we'll arrange it. That said, if you have a preferred board, bring it. For wetsuits, a 3/2mm covers most of the season; a 4/3mm is recommended for December–February.
Q: What is Cap 8 exactly?
A: Cap 8 is a raw Atlantic reef break located near Boujdour, about 2.5 hours from Dakhla: one of the most exciting and least-visited surf spots in all of Morocco. It delivers powerful, long right-handers breaking over sharp reef, with consistently offshore winds when the swell is right. It was largely unknown outside local circles for years due to access issues, but it is now fully open and increasingly recognised as one of Morocco's standout waves. Strictly for advanced, experienced surfers only, as the reef is unforgiving and the waves are fast and hollow.
Other Acivities
Q: What other activities are available on-site?
A: The resort offers padel, stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing, wakeboarding, and access to the Speed Spot, one of the top five flatwater spots in the world, for intermediate to advanced riders. All bookable locally.
Q: Are there activities beyond the resort?
A: Yes, and they're worth planning around. Options include catamaran sailing in the Dakhla lagoon (with a chance to spot flamingos or dolphins), a desert evening at the Breezefest (a Saharan dinner under the stars with live music), a downwind kite run to the White Dune, and a guided tour of Dakhla town with its local market, souk, lighthouse, and museum. These can be organised as add-ons or built into a tailor-made itinerary.
Q: What about non-surfers or companions joining the trip?
A: The resort is a fantastic destination in its own right. Between the pool, the beachfront setting, and a full programme of optional activities, non-surfers will have plenty to enjoy. The on-site restaurant serves Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisine right on the water: think fresh seafood, Moroccan flavours, and sunset views. There's also a separate main restaurant offering full-board international buffets.
Travel & Practicalities
Q: Do I need a visa to travel to Morocco?
A: Most European passport holders can enter Morocco visa-free for up to 90 days. Please check the requirements for your specific nationality before travel.
Q: Is Morocco safe?
A: Yes. Dakhla in particular has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere built around its outdoor and surf culture. Standard travel precautions apply as anywhere.
Q: What currency is used?
A: The Moroccan Dirham (MAD). It's a closed currency, so exchange on arrival. ATMs are available in town. Most local shops are cash only, so it's worth carrying some with you.
Q: Is there Wi-Fi?
A: Yes, the resort has Wi-Fi. That said, Dakhla has a way of making you forget to check your phone.
Q: Can I extend my stay or arrive early?
A: Yes! Get in touch and we'll help you arrange extra nights before or after the trip.
